CANDIDATES FOR TMS

WHICH PATIENTS ARE CANDIDATES TO RECEIVE TMS?

TMS has proven to be effective in treating the following neuropsychiatric disorders:

  • First choice for all types of depression
  • Depression resistant to treatment by antidepressant medications
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Depression in patients intolerant to antidepressant medications due to hypersensitivity or adverse side effects (weight gain, decreased libido or sex drive, tremors, dry mouth)
  • Depression in patients with other indispositions. For example heart conditions that prevent the use of antidepressant medications
  • Post-partum depression (post-partum psychosis)
  • Depression in those cases that a clinical psychologist has thought to prescribe electroconvulsive therapy, but chooses not to because of ECT’s many side effects and/or ECT’s high cost
